“ A husband and wife owned restaurant, they were really friendly and accommodating. The restaurant has very homely vibes. Great food, especially the chicken skin skewer, and the kotatsu kept us very warm. ”
“ Came here a few days ago with a group of 7 and were told that they were full. Made a booking for tonight and was absolutely blown away! A combination of classic and unique food, Yakimaru provided an authentic experience with a heater underneath the table (very toasty!). I’d recommend the beef, mackerel, skewers, and if you’re brave enough, the horse sashimi. ”
“ This is the best izakaya we've gone to in Hakuba. Loved the fried raclette, skewers, pork belly, basil pizza esp. since it's thin crust. Everything! Really packed and need to call to reserve. ”
“ Homey izakaya with a super extensive and well priced menu including the drinks. They serve everything from yakitori, salads to pasta and pizzas. Everything we ordered was delicious, big portioned and served fast. There are yokotas under every table that keep you very warm. Last order is 10:30pm. Came back twice during our trip. Will definitely be back whenever I’m in Hakuba. ”
“ Wonderful place with really delicious food. Lots of local vibes and was crowded even during an off-season weekday. The yakitori was glorious, and the pizza was excellent. We also loved the gyoza and the beef stew with gochujang. Almost every dish served was well prepared and delicious. Staff was also friendly and welcoming. Can't recommend this place enough. ”
“ Very friendly and good service. Welcoming for foreigners. We were lucky to get a seat. The two of us sat at the bar. There were tables for traditional Japanese seating on the floor. Salmon and yellow tail sashimi and lemon sour (chuhai) are a must have. Everything else was delicious too. ”
“ I recently had the pleasure of dining at Iimori, a cozy izakaya in Hakuba, for three nights, and it has quickly become one of my favorite dining spots. Over the course of my visits, I had the chance to sample a wide variety of their menu offerings, and each dish left a lasting impression. Among the standout items were the seasonal ankimo (monkfish liver), the sake lees-grilled silver snow fish, salt-grilled chicken wings, and their perfectly cooked yakitori skewers. Each bite was a delightful explosion of flavor, showcasing the freshness of the ingredients and the skillful preparation that went into every plate. What truly sets Iimori apart, however, is the exceptional service despite the restaurant being incredibly busy. The staff remained courteous and attentive, ensuring that every guest felt welcomed and cared for. The warm ambiance, combined with the snow-covered exterior visible through the windows, added a unique charm to the experience, especially during the chilly evenings. The menu’s variety and the quality of the food make it a must-visit for anyone in the area, and I’m already looking forward to returning to Hakuba just to dine here again. Whether you’re a fan of seafood or enjoy hearty grilled dishes, Iimori delivers an authentic and memorable Japanese dining experience that’s hard to beat. Score of food quality: 4.8 Score of worth to revisit: 5.0 ”
“ We had an excellent dinner with a wide spread of food: natto and avocado salad, fried camembert cheese for appetizer. The main started with tuna shashimi that was served just at the right temperature and that brought out the flavour of the fat. The next dish was yellow tail cheek (harmachi), fresh and served hot that went well with the raddish. Then follw with the fried octopus (calamari) and grilled prawn with masala chilli. The last course was the shnshu tataki beef which melt in your mouth. We love the local ambient and the efficiency of the staff. Besides prices are very reasonable for the quality of the food. I will visit again in my next visit. ”
